Hi! I am working on exercise 1 in chapter 4 - I could get the tapply function to work fine with mean and SD, but whenever I try to use length, I get the error message

Error in FUN(X[[i]], ...) :
2 arguments passed to 'length' which requires 1

I have tried running it with index "season" in case it was fussy about the level being defined as a factor, but same result.... and I asked a colleague who is good at R to take a look and he didn't figure it out either. Any ideas? Thanks so much! - Saakje
